University of Florida issued the following announcement on Aug. 10.

The Gators open the season on Sept. 4 at home against Florida Atlantic.

The Gators will open the season ranked 11th in the USA TODAY Sports/AFCA Coaches Poll.

USA Today released its preseason poll Tuesday afternoon. The AP Top 25 preseason poll is scheduled to be released Monday.

The Gators are coming off an 8-4 season and enter their fourth season under head coach Dan Mullen picked to finish second in the SEC East behind Georgia. The Gators were unranked in the USA Today preseason poll in Mullen's first season, but they opened at No. 8 the past two years.

Defending national champion Alabama is ranked No. 1, followed by Clemson, Oklahoma, Ohio State and Georgia in the top five.

Florida opens the season at home Sept. 4 against Florida Atlantic with a 29-9 record in Mullen's first three seasons. Mullen is one of 65 coaches on the AFCA Board that votes each week to determine the rankings.
