Summer Gator Fire Games

This weekend, Alachua County Fire Rescue (ACFR) is hosting the Summer Gator Fire Games in Gainesville. The event will occur at the Hilton University of Florida Conference Center (1714 S.W. 34th Street, Gainesville) on July 29 and 30, 2022. The event is free for spectators and open to the public.

Friday’s Opening Ceremony begins at 7 p.m., followed by a Fire Rescue demonstration. Saturday’s games are from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Ten different fire departments across the state are bringing their cadets to compete in the games, with a total of 17 teams participating. ACFR will have three teams competing, with each team comprising four cadets.

The teams will play in various competitive events. They will consist of a victim rescue drill, an emergency medical services (EMS) relay, a fire relay, and other fast-paced challenges. All these events will take place on Saturday. An awards ceremony dinner will be held afterward.

“Come out to support and cheer on our young cadets representing our department,” said Alachua County Fire Rescue Assistant Chief Michael Cowart.
