The Holiday Lights Celebration at the Historic Thomas Center, an annual tradition for decades, will take place in the Center’s Gardens. At 6 p.m., attendees will gather on the lawn for a call for the holiday lights in the garden to be lit. After the lighting, the free program will include a light show on the front of the Thomas Center, festival carolers and holiday characters. The festivities runs until 8 p.m.
The joyful sounds of holiday music on the hammered dulcimer and autoharp by Jim and Joyce Lillquist of the Gypsy Guerrilla Band will be heard along with the dulcet carols sung by the Singers of Reformation and the Gainesville Harmony Show Chorus. Santa will not be visiting with the children this year but wants to let everyone know that he and his elves are busy in Santa’s workshop preparing wonderful presents for all.
Inside the Thomas Center, attendees can view and take selfies with the giant holiday tree, which is decorated each year by the Thomas Center Associates. A highlight of the occasion is the luminarias put out annually by the Duckpond Neighborhood Association at the Thomas Center and throughout the adjoining neighborhood.
There will be horse and wagon rides provided by the Duckpond Neighborhood Association for a $5 donation per person.
