City of Newberry recently issued the following announcement.
10-digit dialing will be required after Oct. 24. Voluntary 10-digit dialing is available now but will be required beginning Oct. 24, 2021.
Why is this changing? The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is adopting a 3-digit National Suicide Hotline, which is launching in 2022. Moving to 10-digit dialing is one of the steps necessary to create this hotline.
