City of Gainesville recently issued the following announcement.
The City of Gainesville invites religious leaders to provide an invocation at future regular City Commission meetings. These meetings begin at 10 a.m. on the first and third
Thursdays of each month.
The City of Gainesville opens each regular City Commission meeting with an invocation, and follows a tradition of an invocation that does not proselytize or advance any faith or
show any purposeful preference of one religious view to the exclusion of others. To maintain this tradition, the City of Gainesville is seeking to update their list of invocation
speakers.
