The City of Gainesville is alerting all neighbors of fraudulent text messages that appear to originate from Gainesville Fire Rescue. They do not.
Officials advise all neighbors not to click on the link. The Federal Communications Commission recommends forwarding the message to SPAM (7726) before reporting it as spam or blocking the number, and before deleting the message.
Neighbors should contact their mobile carriers for more information about spam-reporting tools.
